About the role
We are seeking a network infrastructure professional with four or more years of experience supporting and managing network devices, including Cisco and fiber technologies.
Responsibilities
- Respond to ServiceNow incident tickets.
- Perform patching cable installation and recovery, power lead installation, and equipment installation, removal, or swapping.
- Locate and identify network circuits, tagging the demark location.
- Provide escort services for third-party vendors or subcontractors.
- Adhere to risk management processes, including walkthroughs, work permits, change management, safety training, and incident reporting.
- Comply with audit, information protection, security, and physical access management requirements.
- Troubleshoot and patch power cables; identify switch port locations; perform ping tests and DNS lookups.
- Install, remove, or troubleshoot equipment, checking for hardware failure lights, console error messages, power status, and hardware labels.
- Report communications room environmental issues (e.g., lack of cooling, water leaks).
- Perform IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) activities for end-user business LAN and voice devices.
- Adhere to change management procedures and practices.
- Monitor and respond to emergency conditions affecting operations (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes).
- Follow Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans.
- Provide smart-hands support for telecommunications infrastructure, including:
- Fiber optic and copper cable installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- WiFi and BLE systems.
- Microwave systems installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Radio systems (HF, VHF, UHF, 2-way, radar) installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- VSAT installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Cellular-based systems (public/private 4G LTE, 5G, NB-IoT, LTE-M).
- Low-power WAN (lpWAN) systems such as LoRaWAN.
- Other IIoT/OT systems.
- Deploy prewired solar panel/battery power systems at ground level, including visual maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- IP Telephony (IPT) installations at end-user locations.
- Specialty telecom systems (CCTV, PAGA, intercom, fire/intruder alarm) installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for remote and offshore sites.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to restore services, including:
- Company Design and Engineering Teams.
- Global IT Service Desk.
- IT Operations Center (ITOC).
- Telecom providers.
- Managed service providers.
- Business Units (BUs).
- Support IT/Telecom requirements for Business Units, Major Capital Projects (MCPs), and Merger, Acquisition, and Divestiture (MAD) projects.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis post-incidents, as requested.
Requirements
- Six or more years of experience supporting and managing network infrastructure and related devices.
- Experience in racking, stacking, cabling, and decommissioning network hardware.
- Experience in site services support for network device maintenance (console/remote).
- IT/Telecom experience with routing, switching, firewalls, WiFi, IP Telephony (IPT), and Radio Frequency (RF) equipment (e.g., microwave radios, cellular nodes, VSATs).
