Network Specialist - Ethanol Plant

About the role

As a Network Specialist at Valero, you will analyze, troubleshoot, and evaluate computer and networking (Process Control Network) problems. This role is responsible for maintaining VRF PCN and DMZ networks, ensuring network security through hardware/software configuration and end-user training, and driving exceptional results for our company and the energy industry.

Responsibilities

• Collect, monitor, and optimize server performance and capacity to keep up with demand in online traffic.
• Monitor security and troubleshoot/resolve network, hardware, and software issues.
• Perform routine maintenance on network devices.
• Deploy and maintain OT (Operations Technology) network infrastructure through Windows patching, antivirus updates, firmware updates, and application updates.
• Perform network component upgrades to maintain equipment stability and deploy updated firmware to routers and switches.
• Install network computers, servers, network, and communications equipment.
• Continually improve and develop security protocols.
• Periodically report System and Cyber Security KPIs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a Network Specialist required. An Associate's degree (or higher) in an IT-related field may substitute for the two years of experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience working with computer hardware and software required.
• Minimum of five years of experience with common troubleshooting tools like Command Prompt, PowerShell, Putty, Wireshark, etc.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco Network Professional certification(s).

This is a salaried exempt position, meaning you are not eligible for overtime pay.
