Network Software Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Network Development and Automation team. The team develops tools and scalable distributed systems to automate network changes, apply configurations, and handle manual adjustments. This role involves contributing to the development of a new automation platform.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with teammates to develop and code new automation tools
• Employ open source and off-the-shelf tools as appropriate
• Set direction and prioritize for next-generation network automation and management platforms
• Work with a globally distributed team of developers
• Collaborate with other engineering leadership for product growth and evolution
• Own network deliverables for scalability, performance, and availability
• Participate in on-call escalations, root cause analysis, and incident post-mortems

Minimum Requirements

• 5-8 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or 4+ years with a master’s degree
• Significant relevant programming experience in Python, Go, Java, C++, or similar languages
• Fluent English
• Experience with distributed systems, secure communications, and APIs
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and microservices (advantage)
• Excellent communication and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with configuration management systems (SaltStack advantage)
• Knowledge of networking theories, concepts, and protocols
