Network Security Engineer -Hybrid - Plano, Texas

About the role

Works as part of a 24/7 team on rotational shifts within Platform and Content Engineering, handling tunings, stakeholder requests, escalations, reporting, and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Administer the organization’s security tools to gather security logs from their environment.
• Perform lifecycle management of supported security tools/technologies, including break-fix, patching, and live updates.
• Adhere to SOPs and notify stakeholders on log flow/log format issues.
• Document best practices and identify automation opportunities to assist the incident response team.
• Perform security incident handling and response from vectors including End Point Protection, Enterprise Detection and Response tools, attack analysis, malware analysis, network forensics, computer forensics, and a broad range of skills in LAN technologies, Windows and Linux OS’s, and general security infrastructure.
• Carry out agreed maintenance tasks and ensure usage of knowledge articles in incident diagnosis and resolution.
• Monitor service delivery against service level agreements and maintain records of relevant information.
• Investigate causes of incidents, seek resolution, and escalate unresolved incidents until resolved.
• Provide service recovery following resolution of incidents, document, and close resolved incidents according to agreed procedures.
• Investigate and identify root cause of incidents and assist with implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
• Maintain knowledge of specific specialisms and provide detailed advice regarding their application.
• Ensure efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents, including coordinating product requests and repairs with team members.
• Log all incidents in a timely manner with required detail.
• Cooperate with stakeholders including client IT environments, vendors, and carriers to expedite diagnosis and resolution of errors and problems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Security, including:
  • Must have Palo Alto experience.
  • Good to have Zscaler and Prisma SASE experience.
  • Good to have experience with firewalls such as Fortinet, Cisco FTD, IPS, IDS, Proxy, etc.
• Seasoned experience in technical support to clients, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and configuring/managing security controls such as Firewall, IDS/IPS, EDR, NDR, UTM, Proxy, SOAR, HoneyPots, and other security tools.
• Seasoned experience providing remote support in Security Technologies and in SOC/CSIRT Operations.
• Seasoned experience in handling security incidents end-to-end.
• Knowledge of networking, Linux, and security concepts.
• Knowledge of log collection mechanisms such as Syslog, Log file, DB API.
• Knowledge of security architecture and seasoned experience in Security engineering.

Preferred Skills

• Seasoned working knowledge of implementation and monitoring of security tools/technologies.
• Seasoned knowledge of security architecture, with experience across different security technologies.
• Good to have experience with firewalls like Palo Alto NGFW, Fortinet, and Cisco FTD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology or related field.
• Relevant Networking certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, ACCA, PCNSA, CCSA, etc., preferred.
• Relevant Security certifications such as AZ-500, SC-200, Security+, CEH, CISSP, CISM, etc., will be an added advantage.

Pay

The starting pay range for this role is $112,000 – $149,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including the candidate’s work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
