About the role

The mission of Wytheville Community College is dedicated to facilitating student success and fostering excellence through teaching while providing personal development, lifelong career growth, community leadership, economic advancement, and cultural enrichment for the citizens of the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, and Wythe and the city of Galax.

Responsibilities

- Install, configure, and support routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, VPNs, and network security appliances. - Administer Microsoft 365, Azure /Entra ID, and cloud-based services such as Meraki, Juniper. - Utilize security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection platforms, or SIEM solutions. - Manage service requests using an IT ticketing system and prioritize multiple projects. - Provide advanced technical support for endpoint devices. - Collaborate with faculty and staff to determine technology needs. - Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and network-access resources. - Serve as a subject matter expert for network and security technologies. - Work collaboratively with Information Technology Services staff, VCCS personnel, and external vendors to support the mission and strategic goals of Wytheville Community College.

Requirements

- Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure. - Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing and switching protocols, internet security principles, and cybersecurity best practices. - Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, CISSP, Juniper or Palo Alto certifications. - Experience supporting Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Juniper, or similar enterprise platforms. - Experience with identity and access management, MFA, and Varonis.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required. - Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Administration, or related field. - Experience supporting Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Juniper, or similar enterprise platforms. - Experience with identity and access management, MFA, and Varonis.

Skills

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Benefits

- Commensurate with experience.

Pay

- $46,000-$60,000

Schedule

- Mostly 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday
