Network/Operations - Systems Engineer
About the role
This role is for a seasoned Storage and Backup Infrastructure engineer to manage, maintain and optimize our enterprise-level storage systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with block, file, object and backup storage technologies and will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our storage and backup infrastructure from design and implementation to day-to-day operations and strategic capacity planning.
Responsibilities
- Independently identify and respond to onsite risks and high-priority issues, including troubleshooting incidents and managing incident queues.
- Execute tasks related to data center systems, such as critical system installations, data room moves, decommissions, and reconfigurations.
- Contribute to design decisions regarding OSI Model Layer 1 infrastructure, system automation, and capacity planning.
- Apply knowledge of data center infrastructure components and their impact on services during moves, adds, and changes.
- Define, evaluate, and improve team documentation and processes.
- Participate in team agile ceremonies, lead demos, and contribute to technology communities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Storage Engineer in an enterprise environment.
- Technical Skills: Deep expertise in a variety of storage and storage virtualization technologies, including at least two major vendors (e.g., IBM, NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage). Extensive experience with enterprise data protection solutions (NetBackup or Commvault), disaster recovery and multi-site replication. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Bash) for automation. Flexible Solid understanding of storage protocols such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB.
Preferred Qualifications
- Big project Management work experience.
- Fintech experience.
- Experience with AWS cloud storage services.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) and their storage requirements.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer, Dell EMC Certified Professional, AWS Cloud Practitioner).
- Experience working in a DevOps or Agile environment.
