Network Implementation Engineer, Edge Metro Capacity Delivery

As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues. Google's complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies. Responsibilities
- Support and participate with Design, Deployment, and Planning teams as needed to deliver end-to-end connectivity for assigned metro sites.
- Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
- Work with Core, Transport, and Edge teams to translate common network solutions into standard Bill Of Materials (BOMs) and detailed design packages for third parties to execute with minimal oversight.
- Manage the creation and maintenance of network documentation and implementation plans (DPKs), ensuring technical accuracy during deployment activities.
- Apply scripting and software development skills (e.g., Python) to automate workflows, perform data analysis, and drive process optimizations within your assigned scope.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.
- Experience planning/leading network deployments and creating deployment packages and Methods of Procedures (MOP).
- Experience planning and coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment.
