About the role

CACI is seeking a Network Engineering Lead to join our technical operations and maintenance team on a contract supporting the enterprise network and infrastructure at the Department of Homeland Security. This role will serve as both a senior technical network engineer and the lead for the Network Engineering team. The position will be responsible for leading day-to-day network engineering activities, managing personnel, coordinating operational priorities, supporting incident response, and ensuring the team delivers reliable network administration, maintenance, and engineering support in a 24/7/365 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Network Engineering Team Lead, responsible for overseeing team operations, personnel management, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and oversight for assigned personnel, including supervising, mentoring, and supporting network engineering staff.
  • Assign work, monitor progress, and help resolve technical or operational blockers.
  • Coordinate team schedules, workload distribution, coverage planning, and on-call responsibilities to ensure continuous operational support.
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support to network engineers during incident response, maintenance activities, and complex troubleshooting efforts.
  • Establish team priorities in coordination with program leadership, operations teams, engineering teams, and customer stakeholders.
  • Track team performance against service level objectives, operational metrics, incident response expectations, and project deliverables.
  • Support employee performance management activities, including feedback, coaching, goal setting, development planning, and input for performance evaluations.
  • Identify staffing needs, skill gaps, and training opportunities to strengthen network engineering capabilities.
  • Assist with onboarding new team members and ensuring personnel understand customer processes, security requirements, operational procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Lead recurring team meetings, operational reviews, and technical discussions to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, upcoming changes, and customer needs.
  • Promote consistent use of approved tools, processes, documentation practices, and change management procedures across the Network Engineering team.
  • Serve as a primary management point of contact for network engineering matters, including status reporting, escalations, risks, resource needs, and operational improvements.
  • Partner with program leadership to support workforce planning, staffing actions, surge support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure team members follow all customer network security processes and procedures and comply with applicable Government policies.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience leading or managing a technical network engineering, network operations, or infrastructure support team.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise technical staff, assign work, manage priorities, and support personnel development.
  • Experience coordinating operational support in a mission-focused enterprise IT environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to brief leadership, coordinate across technical teams, and communicate with customer stakeholders.
  • Experience tracking team performance, operational metrics, incident response status, and service request progress.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical responsibilities with personnel management and team leadership duties.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry On Duty (EOD) - Active EOD preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 15 years of applicable experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Expert experience (including troubleshooting) with Cisco switches and routers.

Pay

The proposed salary range for this position is $103,800 - $218,100. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
