About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Network Engineer to join our team supporting the federal Indian Health Service (IHS) Patients at the Heart Electronic Health Record (PATH EHR) modernization program. This remote position is based in the United States and requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance. As a Principal Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and supporting network infrastructure to ensure seamless, secure, and compliant connectivity for healthcare operations. Your expertise will support deployment activities, troubleshoot complex network issues, and collaborate with cybersecurity and configuration teams to uphold federal standards and policies. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop strategies that meet program objectives, especially in cloud networking, microsegmentation, and Zero Trust Architecture frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support network infrastructure to meet program and customer requirements, emphasizing security and compliance
  • Create device mappings and VLAN microsegmentation configurations during facility deployments
  • Support sustainment activities by troubleshooting network issues, including OCI connections, VLANs, and system interfaces
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure network designs align with NIST standards, facilitate ATO approvals, and maintain security posture
  • Work closely with internal teams such as configuration and change management to implement network modifications and updates
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to deploy new vendor capabilities and support greenfield projects
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and recommend process improvements
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Engage with stakeholders at various levels, including technical teams, management, and external partners

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience supporting medium to large-scale IT projects
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking, microsegmentation, virtual networking, and Zero Trust Architecture
  • Experience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments, preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting, VLAN configurations, and system-to-system interfaces
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, and PPSM
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Level 5 (SSBI T5) clearance
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and task management skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed
