Network Engineer (Network Engineering, Senior Associate)
Summary
The MIL Corporation is seeking a Network Engineer (Network Engineering, Senior Associate) to support a federal government client in St. Inigoes, MD. The Network Engineer will provide direct support to the government customer while coordinating with multiple support organizations. This role applies advanced systems engineering and networking principles to design, develop, integrate, secure, and sustain local, regional, and wide area networks supporting voice, video, data, and imagery transport.
Responsibilities
- Review detailed network designs and configurations to ensure architectural alignment and identify opportunities to optimize performance and reliability
- Create, update, and maintain system baseline documentation including block diagrams, Simple Network Diagrams (SND), Detailed Network Diagrams (DND), and router/switch configuration templates
- Implement Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and security controls to harden network and operating systems; support development of IATT and ATO documentation for lab environments
- Provide expert network integration support for site installations
- Deliver Tier-3 engineering, troubleshooting, and recovery support to restore and maintain mission network performance
- Contribute to routine meetings, status updates, site reviews, and technical documentation including procedures, trip reports, and network analysis reports
- Conduct research, testing, and network analysis leveraging tools such as Wireshark and other methods to evaluate emerging technologies
- Collaborate closely with partner organizations and internal IT stakeholders on infrastructure initiatives
- Support customer briefings and design reviews; operate effectively in an independent, multi-tasking environment
- Plan and implement future IT development initiatives and execute assigned project responsibilities
- Travel 25% to 40% CONUS and OCONUS
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience configuring, installing, supporting, and maintaining network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls; monitoring network performance; diagnosing complex network issues; conducting preventative maintenance; and ensuring security compliance
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in LAN/WAN system administration, network security, systems maintenance, performance monitoring, requirements analysis, resource scheduling, configuration management, and documentation management; includes significant Layer 1 and strong Layer 2 switching expertise
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio
- Demonstrated proficiency with Cisco-based routing, switching, and firewall technologies
- DoD 8140 CSWF certification within 60 days of start (Cloud+ or Security+)
- Ability to develop high-quality Standard Operating Procedures and technical documentation including network diagrams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to support occasional weekend work as required
Desired Qualifications
- Cisco CCNP Certification
- Demonstrated experience operating in TS/SCI airborne and terrestrial tactical and enterprise networks
- Demonstrated experience operating in SECRET/COLL airborne and terrestrial tactical and enterprise networks
- Deep understanding of MULTI-INT system interfaces and the ability to serve as a lead integrator in rapid prototyping and technology evaluation environments
- Expert knowledge of airborne SIGINT system operations and interdependencies to support Tier-3 mission environments
- Strong understanding of advanced national and airborne dissemination concepts and methods supporting tactical and national consumers
- Strong understanding of DoD organizational structures, mission functions, and operational relationships
- Expert knowledge of Distributed SIGINT Operations (DSO) in airborne environments
- Experience configuring and managing Type 1 encryptors
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Familiarity with Linux environments (RHEL, SUNOS)
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of professional experience; a PhD may substitute for 4 years of professional experience.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $130,000 - $165,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package. Final salary for this position is determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, education, experience, and contractual limitations.
