About the role

We're hiring for a Network Engineer IV to work in Albuquerque, NM in support of the US Air Force Space Mission. This individual will be responsible for the deployment, monitoring, and support of network infrastructure (IP-based telephones, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs) and virtual server environments (servers, storage area networks, and VMware). The role involves troubleshooting, installing, implementing, and administering network systems as part of a team of network engineers, systems administrators, and systems engineers utilizing lifecycle management frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, and removal of switches, routers, and firewalls in operational and test lab environments
  • Apply knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, etc.) to analyze network activity and problems
  • Work with other system and network administrators in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network nodes, servers, routers, and firewalls; identify and correct hardware and software issues involved with encryptors
  • Use and incorporate broad technical knowledge of diverse business areas within the enterprise to assess network engineering technologies, computing systems hardware, and software protocols
  • Provide technical guidance and direction in the design and implementation of network solutions using advanced understanding of network theory and enterprise network architecture
  • Establish overall strategic network standards and priorities to maintain the network baseline; recommend network design changes/enhancements; analyze optimization of network systems performance
  • Provide high-level technical advice and guidance to managers and technical resources on utilizing network technologies to meet current and future organizational needs
  • Develop and maintain network topologies and diagrams

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a science and technology-related discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering) from an accredited college or university with 9+ years of experience. Four years of experience will be accepted in lieu of education.
  • Must possess DoD 8570 Level II certification
  • Strong background in Microsoft Office tools and Visio
  • Record of success in contributing to the completion of programs and projects; ability to obtain results and make key recommendations
  • Knowledge of communication protocols, specifically routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, as well as TCP/IP
  • Sound knowledge of network security and control models
  • Experience with Network Security Technologies (e.g., Multiple Domain, PKI, SSP, Vulnerability Assessment)
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Top Secret security clearance and SCI eligibility

Desired Experience

  • Understanding of disciplined process; information and data management, configuration control
  • Seasoned communicator with demonstrated record of success in leadership, followership, and working with contract representatives and government sponsors
  • Ability to provide high-level summaries of results and draw conclusions based on interpretation of data

Pay

Up to $62/hour
