Network Engineer - IT, Sr / Cleared / Onsite - Manassas/Herndon

About the role

The role involves managing, controlling, and updating the network switches, wireless network, and LAN routers, both classified and unclassified, across multiple facilities. Responsibilities include supporting routine updates, major upgrades, and ongoing maintenance, as well as performing break/fix incidents and supporting various projects.

Responsibilities

• Support Type 1 encryption systems and perform performance monitoring of classified network infrastructure.
• Support break/fix incidents and various project work within both campuses and remote facilities.
• Remediate vulnerabilities by adhering to customer operating regulations and best practices, documenting all managed and controlled network assets.
• Provide timely and effective solutions to problems using troubleshooting skills, and develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity.
• Work on-site, including some off-shift hours, weekends, and occasional travel.
• Support a 4x10 schedule (Mon-Thurs) and a 24x7 weekly on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting network infrastructure.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, IP configuration, peer-to-peer networking, and IP addressing/subnetting.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds and walk/stand for extended periods.
• Knowledge of Cat5/6 wiring.
• Experience leading projects to completion.
• TS/SCI clearance required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience and knowledge of Cisco and/or Brocade network switches and routers.
• Hands-on experience and knowledge of routing and switching.
• Experience with Type 1 network encryption.
• Experience with DoD security standards, policies, and procedures.
• Certification in CCNA and/or CCNP.
• Experience with DoD SIPRNet, General Dynamics TACLANE, NSA Type 1 Encryptor, NISPOM, JFAN, and JSIG.
• Experience with firewall installation and configuration.
