About the role
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) seeks a Network Engineer to maintain and operate critical infrastructure for INDOT's Traffic Management. This includes managing a computer network for highway message boards, cameras, roadway sensors, dispatch centers, webpages, and traffic/video feeds.
Responsibilities
- Provide day two support for networking repairs, replacements, and refreshes.
- Perform equipment repairs, including supporting equipment like UPS and PDUs.
- Standardize, optimize, and stabilize the network and network environment, including closet environment, power, and cable management statewide.
- Manage security of network resources via authentication, authorization, accounting, and detection.
- Update ticket systems, create, and close tech support cases as needed.
Requirements
- Must have advanced knowledge of routing, switching, remote access, and wireless protocols.
- Experience with Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and remote access systems.
- Advanced knowledge of multi-protocol services and environments.
- Knowledge of current best practices and security guidelines for network equipment deployment, management, and removal.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in computer technology, networking, or related fields.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Skills
Must be able to articulate or demonstrate the following skills:
- Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, remote access, and wireless protocols.
- Experience with Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and remote access systems.
- Advanced knowledge of multi-protocol network environments.
- Knowledge of current best practices and security guidelines for network equipment deployment, management, and removal.

Pay
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $61,022.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
