About the role

This position is open to candidates located in Wisconsin (preferred) or nearby states, such as Minnesota, Iowa, or Illinois. The role involves frequent travel to Wisconsin for onsite customer work, estimated at 30%–50% of the time.

We are seeking a highly skilled Extreme Network Engineer III with deep expertise in Extreme Networks technologies to join our Professional Services team. As a trusted technical advisor, you will lead complex design, upgrade, and implementation projects, ensuring successful outcomes aligned with client business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the networking technical lead on customer projects.
  • Design, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Extreme Networks routers, switches, wireless, and management platforms, including:
    • Extreme fabric engine (VOSS) and switch engine (EXOS) with SPBM/ISIS, OSPF, BGP.
    • Extreme XIQ Cloud Platform ONE, XIQ-Site Engine, Control Engine (NAC), and Analytics.
    • Extreme wireless controllers and APs.
  • Work with Juniper routers and switches (EX, MX, SRX), HPE Aruba routers/switches/wireless (including Aruba Central, AOS-CX, Clearpass), Palo Alto, and Fortinet firewalls (experience a plus).
  • Create customer-facing High-Level and Low-Level Designs for installations and configurations.
  • Build templates for automation of equipment roll-outs by other staff members.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) to support the Account team when needed.
  • Collaborate with the prime SE on network designs.
  • Serve as a 3rd-level resource for Tech Support engineers.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in field support, professional services, or technical support.
  • Heavy experience with Juniper routers/switches and migrations from VPLS to EVPN, including Juniper Apstra for EVPN deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing protocols (MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Ability to use scripting to configure networking devices.
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols.
  • Data Center routing and switching experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong account management and customer communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Extreme commitment to customer service and enhancing the customer experience.
  • Proficiency in computing, including Linux.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize customer support tools/resources.

Pay

Base pay range: $130,000 – $155,000. Actual base pay will be based on education, experience, location, certifications, skill set, and other relevant factors. Incentive/variable pay opportunities are in addition to base pay.
