About the role

We seek a talented and motivated "Network Engineer III" to join our dynamic IT team. As a Network Engineer III, you will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity, optimal performance, and security. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and address network-related issues, contribute to network design discussions, and implement best practices to support our growing technology needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks.
  • Support the implementation and management of network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Respond to and resolve network incidents and service disruptions promptly.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and security teams to implement network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
  • Participate in capacity planning and network expansion efforts to accommodate the organization's growth and evolving technology requirements.
  • Assist in the evaluation and integration of new networking technologies and solutions.
  • Install, maintain, and configure Cisco routers/switches, firewall, VPN, and VLANs.
  • Monitor/Resolve LAN/WAN performance, health, and security issues.
  • Install, maintain, and configure all wireless networks.
  • Install, configure, and maintain all LAN/WAN hardware and cabling.
  • Participate in Network Operations planning.
  • Support all Administrators and developers as required.
  • Develop/test and analyze new technical solutions to problems.
  • Maintain a current inventory of all Network assets, purchase history, and warranty data.
  • Install, maintain, and configure all voice & data communication circuits.
  • Perform disaster recovery of all network systems.
  • Perform backup and restore of network systems.
  • Implement policies to ensure the security and integrity of the network.

Requirements

  • Responsible for configuring, installing, and maintaining network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Ensure proper functioning of network devices and implement updates or patches as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity problems, latency, and downtime.
  • Utilize troubleshooting tools and methodologies to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, topologies, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, application developers, and IT support, to ensure seamless integration of network services and resolve interdepartmental network-related issues.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for network-related projects, such as network upgrades, expansions, or migrations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies that enhance network performance, security, and efficiency.
  • Assist in capacity planning efforts to accommodate the organization's growth and evolving technology requirements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging networking technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in MIS or computer science is preferred.
  • Related Work Experience (Yrs.) At least 8 years of experience as a network engineer.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.), and technologies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network equipment from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or other significant providers.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools such as: Cisco IOS, Cisco ACS, Cisco WCS, Cisco WLC, Cisco MARS, Stealth Watch.
  • Basic knowledge of network security principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Certifications (Required/Preferred)

  • Required – CCNA routing and switching.
  • Preferred – CCNA wireless.
  • Preferred – CCNA voice.
