About the role

The Network Engineer II (NES) (26-295 & 26-296) plays a crucial role in supporting the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. This program is vital for the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at various levels. The role involves building out and deploying networks to operational environments, working within an Agile Scrum team, and assisting with real-world events, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Network Development Engineer, supporting build-out and deployments to the operational environment as needed
  • Work within an Agile Scrum team and plan work based on customer requirements and program contractual agreements
  • Be a primary Network Engineer supporting the C2BMC Program
  • Be responsible for learning to plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network for operational sites and for helping where needed
  • Be responsible for traveling to remote locations to perform network installations, troubleshoot, and provide status updates to Program personnel
  • Be willing and able to assist with real-world events, including nights and weekends

Requirements

  • Current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.)
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
  • Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application is highly preferred

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
  • Proficient communicator with strong writing and presentation skills, utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated engineers and independently at times on large field projects
  • Knowledge of network design, development, and testing methodologies
  • Knowledge of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols (BGP and OSPF)
  • Network traffic analysis, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
  • Firewall knowledge in Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto
  • Knowledge of UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network design
  • Knowledge about multi-vendor switching and routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimization, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment
