Network Engineer II
About the Role
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the Engineering of Enterprise Information Technology networking systems and services in support of Engineering, Software Development, and corporate initiatives.
- Plan and administer IT infrastructure to meet ever-changing business requirements and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the services.
- Research and provide recommendations for advanced networking technologies.
- Participate in developing and documenting policies and procedures for consistent infrastructure management, methodologies, and standards.
- Participate in the Software Development Lifecycle and Engineering processes to meet diverse and complex Information Technology needs.
- Develop and apply network management policies and processes through automation and advanced technologies.
- Deploy and maintain enterprise infrastructure network services including configuration management, authentication, licensing, and security services.
- Administer the strategy for the operations and support of the IT network infrastructure.
- Coordinate physical environment usage and planning across geographies (data centers, labs, remote offices).
- Provide input into how costs are measured, tracked, and reported.
- Develop detailed design of hardware and software infrastructure to meet architecture, project development and QOS requirements.
- Administer network hardware and NOS build standards.
- Implement and enforce security policies for protecting data and shared network resources in accordance with established Governance.
- Maintain and enforce the Configuration and Change Management of Enterprise Systems through monitoring, documentation, and internal corporate processes.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Troubleshoot and triage complex problems to avoid extended costly down time and service outages.
- Perform root cause analysis utilizing analytical problem solving to provide long term problem resolution.
- Create key performance indicators and metrics reports.
- Provide cost and chargeback reporting to management and customers based on established costing and charging policies.
- Prepare and present technical content to peers, management, and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience. Each higher-level related degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Polygraph.
- Experience with Cisco OS.
- Certification(s) that meets DoD 8570 Requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Classified Network Environments, network engineering, change management, integration, configuration/data management.
- Knowledge of security requirements such as DISA STIGs.
- Knowledge of network performance monitoring tools.
- Experience with Nexus OS, Palo Alto GUI, Juniper OS, F5 Load-balancers, or Cisco IOS.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent teamwork.
Schedule
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $79,365 - $134,921. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
