About the role
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team. The DOT Intelligent Transportation System Unit is responsible for managing the City’s extensive Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Test and pilot emerging ITS technologies
- Deploy and maintain Linux, Windows OS, and VMWare systems
- Maintain and manage network switches, routers, and servers
- Support other teams within the department and across the City
- Provide limited on-call support for network issues
- Test and deploy new ITS technologies
- Aid in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the ITS field communications network
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related field
- Three years of experience in technical support for end users
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Cisco Certified Network Professional, Brocade Professional IP Administrator, or equivalent
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with ITS infrastructure and related technologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 annually.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
