Job Description
As a Senior Network Engineer specializing in Network Tools, you will be at the forefront of Visa’s technology evolution by seamlessly blending the management of industry-leading vendor tools with the adoption and integration of cutting-edge technologies. This role is responsible for engineering, operating, and optimizing commercial, off-the-shelf network monitoring, management, and automation solutions, while also leveraging automation frameworks, cloud-native architectures, and Generative AI (GenAI) to maximize operational uptime and efficiency. You will design and implement enhancements that fuse commercial software with in-house automation, enabling predictive analytics and automated incident response, as well as driving efficiency gains. Your expertise will allow you to develop and refine workflows that incorporate cloud scalability, AI-driven insights, and infrastructure-as-code, ensuring our monitoring and fault management platforms remain state-of-the-art.
Collaborate closely with internal architecture, engineering, operations, and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions that are both robust and innovative.
Guide the transformation of Visa’s network monitoring and configuration management into highly automated and resilient infrastructures.
Ensure network reliability, performance, and security compliance through robust tooling solutions.
Automate network operations to minimize manual intervention and reduce downtime.
Provide actionable analytics and reporting to inform network strategy and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with networking, security, and IT teams to address evolving infrastructure monitoring needs.
Reduce incident volume and mean time to resolution (MTTR) via automated triage and event correlation.
Integrate AI and GenAI into solutions to accelerate automation and improve diagnostics.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications: 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
Enterprise-level experience implementing LAN and WAN infrastructures using modern networking technologies.
Strong expertise in IGP and EGP WAN IP technologies.
Professional‑level engineering knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, and Arista hardware and software.
Professional‑level engineering knowledge of routing protocols including ISIS, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.
Professional‑level engineering knowledge of encryption protocols such as IPSec, SSL, and MACSec.
Hands-on expertise in programming and scripting using Python or similar languages, and automating workflows with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
Proficiency in integrating monitoring solutions with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Proven experience leveraging AI and GenAI technologies to improve efficiency.
Extensive experience engineering, deploying, and operating vendor-purchased, off-the-shelf network monitoring solutions (e.g., SevOne, Netscout, NetBrain, ThousandEyes).
Strong skills in database management, including SQL and the integration of diverse data sources for comprehensive monitoring.
Deep understanding of SNMP, syslog, and modern observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), including their orchestration in hybrid on-prem/cloud environments.
Track record of driving operational excellence by creating automated systems and integrations.
Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead complex incident resolution and root cause analysis.
