About the role
Vanguard is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the implementation and integration of advanced network technologies, provide expert-level network design and troubleshooting support, and contribute to special projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and integration of advanced network technologies, including installation, configuration, and optimization of new network infrastructure.
- Provide expert-level network design, troubleshooting and debugging support to development teams.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex telecom network issues from Support and Technical Services teams.
- Monitor network system performance, analyze trends, and proactively address performance bottlenecks.
- Conduct network capacity planning by tracking key performance metrics, analyzing usage trends, and implementing measures to prevent degradation due to capacity constraints.
- Mentor and train team members through formal training programs and hands-on guidance.
- Contribute to special projects, taking on additional responsibilities as required to support evolving business and technology needs.
- Install, configure, and maintain ICT data and voice networks, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Define and document network architecture, specifying key protocols and essential services for seamless communication across segments.
- Leverage automation tools and scripting to simplify routine network management tasks, improve system efficiency, and address complex configuration challenges.
- Proactively manage and resolve network-related incidents, minimizing service disruptions and maintaining high system availability.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement security measures that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years related work experience in network administration, including advanced troubleshooting, network design, and implementation.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center, ISE, and Catalyst 9k switches, HPE Aruba Wireless Mobility Infrastructure, Clearpass.
- Expertise in routing, switching, network security (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS), cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and Troubleshooting, PCAP analysis, Routing, Switching, load balancing, network security.
- Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), Switching protocols (STP, VLANs, Trunking).
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark), automation/scripting (Python, PowerShell), and ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage and resolve complex network issues and manage escalations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enterprise Campus Network experience preferred.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) preferred.
- Network security best practices.
- Strong network automation tools experience (e.g., Ansible).
- Cellular DAS experience.
- Ekahau Product knowledge.
- ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
- Certification in HPE Aruba solutions (ACMA, ACMP).
