Network Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a hands-on Network Field Engineer to support deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and validation of network infrastructure within large-scale warehouse, distribution, and construction environments. This role focuses primarily on Layer 2 switching, field coordination, and onsite network activation across active industrial and automated fulfillment facilities.
Responsibilities
Network Deployment & Configuration
- Configure and validate Layer 2 switching environments within warehouse and distribution facilities
- Load, review, and troubleshoot switch configuration files
- Configure and manage: VLANs, trunk ports, port channels, switch port activation/deactivation, subnet assignments
- Support deployment of Aruba, Cisco, HP, PLC, and industrial switching hardware
- Absorb and assist in bringing gateways, access points, and network-connected endpoints online
- Validate switch communication across MDF and IDF environments
Field Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve: VLAN mismatches, trunking issues, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) loops, port shutdowns, misconfigured switch ports, upstream connectivity failures, troubleshooting devices connected to incorrect VLANs or subnets
- Use network diagnostic and monitoring tools including: packet sniffers, network probes, spectrum analyzers
- Support remote engineering teams during deployment and validation activities
Site Coordination & Leadership
- Coordinate daily activities with low-voltage and cabling vendors
- Provide regular deployment and status updates to engineering leadership
- Absorb and assist with project execution in active construction and warehouse environments
- Read and interpret: network drawings, cut sheets, rack layouts, cabling plans
- Verify proper labeling and deployment of access points and cabling infrastructure
Documentation & Validation
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation and deployment records
- Execute and document test plans for infrastructure validation
- Participate in project review meetings and deployment readiness discussions
- Update installation checklists and configuration tracking documentation
Requirements
- CCNA-level engineer with strong practical knowledge of switching environments, MDF/IDF architecture, VLAN configuration, trunking, port channels, and field troubleshooting
- No advanced enterprise routing experience (BGP/OSPF) required, but understanding of how switching infrastructure interconnects and supports operational warehouse systems is essential

This is a Contract position based out of Brookhaven, MS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
