Network Engineer

About the role

The Network Engineer will manage the network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN and telecommunications, for Southern Research. Responsibilities include designing, configuring, and supporting high-available solutions that meet business needs. The role requires staying updated on the latest technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, setup, and configure complex networking
• Gather and analyze network requirements for design
• Align systems/network infrastructure with organizational needs
• Document design documents and maintain network software
• Maintain multi-site network operations and software applications
• Support daily operational activities
• Manage assigned projects and program components

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology or related field
• 6+ years of relevant experience as a Network Engineer
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing large-scale WAN/LAN networks
• Extensive knowledge of enterprise network technologies
• Mastery of TCP/IP and IP Security protocols

Qualifications

• Current CCNA and/or CCDA certification
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
• Experience with VMware and Windows systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under stress and manage multiple tasks
• Flexible schedule and willingness to work weekends/holidays/on-call

Skills

• Cisco Call Manager experience
• ITIL knowledge
• Core server technologies including virtualization and SAN storage

Pay

Competitive salary commensurate with experience

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday work as needed
