Network Engineer

Location: Knoxville, TN (Onsite). This is a full‑time, contract‑to‑hire position requiring on‑campus presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead wired and wireless network projects from design through deployment.
• Design, deploy, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, and Wi‑Fi networks.
• Research and implement new networking technologies and improvements.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors on major upgrades and outages.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Maintain accurate network documentation and configurations.
• Provide senior‑level technical guidance and on‑call support as required.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree.
• 6+ years of experience in network administration or network engineering.
• Strong knowledge of WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, Layer 2/3, DNS/DHCP, Wi‑Fi, and firewalls.
• Advanced understanding of VPN technologies and encryption.
• Hands‑on experience with routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, and security devices.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical users.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, PMP, AZ‑900, AZ‑700, CWNA, or similar.
• Experience with large‑scale campus networks, hybrid cloud, EVPN/VXLAN, or higher‑education environments.
