About the role
The District seeks a Network Engineer to join our team. The position is open for immediate hire and is part of a promotional process taking precedence.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of complex analytical, design, planning, implementation, and problem-solving tasks on large complex computer systems and networks.
- Aid in formulating recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards, and regulations.
- Provide technical information and recommendations.
- Support staff and other district personnel with technical issues.
- Offer technical direction to other department staff.
- Plan, design, integrate, troubleshoot, and test the physical and logical components of the District’s LAN/WAN, including DNS and DHCP infrastructures, network and systems hardware and software, SAN, and virtual environments.
- Advise and assist in the development and implementation of the District’s information technology plan.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the proper use of computer technology and the internet for both administrative and instructional purposes.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for large systems and networks.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain physical and virtual servers.
- Analyze, identify, and correct technology-related issues.
- Research and design solutions in the use of new hardware or software products.
- Determine proper software and hardware installation methods for integration and efficiency.
- Document procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to systems/networks software and hardware.
- Maintain software licensing, documents, and records.
- Maintain current knowledge of computer and network industry standards, protocols, and trends.
- Communicate effectively and convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Prioritize workload and reengineer workflow for users.
- Establish effective working relationships.
- Participate in meetings.
- Exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in designing, planning, troubleshooting, and integrating large complex systems or networks.
- Work as a team member.
Requirements
- Any combination equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, or a related field and five years of increasingly responsible experience in system or network design and maintenance.
- Preferred: Job-related experience working in a TK–12 educational environment.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
- Certification/s such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIP, CCNP-Security, CCSP, MCSA, MCAD may be required depending on assignment.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, or a related field and five years of increasingly responsible experience in system or network design and maintenance.
- Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
