About the role
L3Harris is seeking a Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of classified network environments up to Top Secret in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot classified network infrastructure supporting operations up to the Top Secret level.
- Engineer secure network solutions including routing, switching, firewall, and VPN technologies.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, availability, and capacity across mission-critical environments.
- Investigate and resolve complex network issues, outages, and security-related events.
- Support classified network compliance activities including system hardening, audit readiness, and accreditation efforts.
- Apply cybersecurity best practices to network architecture, segmentation, access controls, and device configuration.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, implementation plans, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Execute network changes in accordance with established configuration management and change control processes.
- Partner with cybersecurity, systems administration, and program teams to maintain secure and compliant infrastructure.
- Support technology refresh, network modernization, and lifecycle replacement efforts.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced team members as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation, scheduled maintenance windows, and after-hours operational support as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, or
- Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret security clearance required, or ability to obtain and maintain one as required by the program.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with enterprise networking technologies, secure infrastructure design, and troubleshooting within controlled classified environments.
- Experience supporting DoD or other federal classified network environments.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF, NIST 800-53, and related cybersecurity/compliance frameworks.
- CCNA certification.
- Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise technologies.
- Additional certifications such as Security+, CCIE, CISSP or firewall/security vendor certifications.
- Experience with enclave architecture, cross-domain solutions, or air-gapped network environments.
- Experience supporting network modernization, infrastructure refresh, or mission systems integration efforts.
- Prior experience serving as a technical lead, senior engineer, or subject matter expert.
- Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure in secure or classified environments.
- Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring/management tools.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, ACLs, STP, and QoS.
- Experience with secure network design, implementation, and sustainment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve advanced network performance and connectivity issues.
- Experience with technical documentation, network diagrams, and formal change management processes.
