MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Network Engineer to join our team based out of Chantilly, VA. This is an onsite position.
About the role
The Network Engineer must exhibit good judgment in interfacing with all government and contract personnel, providing proper examples of work performance, and adherence to professional standards and operational and security guidelines as defined by the Government and MANTECH.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on experience and expertise in the installation and management of public and/or private networks such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide area networks (WANs), switches, routers (Cisco), and troubleshooting servers and networks to provide maximum performance.
- Provide guidance to the Network/Server Lead, weekly and monthly performance reports, as well as daily reporting to the customer on all critical issues and their resolutions.
- Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities; identify innovative solutions to complex situations; analyze and develop new hardware requirements and prepare specifications for hardware.
- Direct and lead preparation of engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages; develop infrastructure installation schedules.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members and business partners; troubleshoot complex issues; assist in the design of network installation configuration for new sites, support decommissioning of a site, and assist in moves; support computer systems and peripherals.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams for procurement, installation, and management of network-related inventory (switches, routers, servers, storage solutions, etc.).
- Travel to customer sites and perform deployment activities including site surveys, hardware installation, software installation, hardware removal, and shipment checks for network-connected hardware.
- Organize and direct hardware installations and support site surveys.
- Conduct training sessions to ensure all team members are cross-trained in supported technology; provide Tier III network technical issue resolution, including infrastructure-related problems and proper use of hardware.
- Direct and lead preparation of drawings documenting network configuration changes at each site.
- Lead functional teams or projects requiring depth and/or breadth of expertise.
- Prepare drawings documenting configuration changes at each site; prepare site installation and trip reports; respond to requests and document actions taken in a ticketing system.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in Information Technology, with a focus on network, Cisco routers and switch configurations, LAN/WAN Management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience in the installation and management of public and/or private networks such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide area networks (WANs), switches, routers (Cisco), and troubleshooting servers and networks to provide maximum performance.
- Clear and effective communication both verbally and non-verbally to deliver updates, briefings, or interface with co-workers, leadership, and customers.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, and experience in customer service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Productivity applications.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% CONUS and/or OCONUS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCST, CCNP).
- Associate or bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- Prior experience supporting network and server installation, integration, and support in the Federal government enterprise environment.
- Experience contributing as part of an Agile team.
- Current active Secret clearance strongly preferred.
Security Clearance Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to starting this position and maintain a Secret clearance thereafter.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to perform installation work in constrained spaces like under work desks, in small cubicles, and counter window environments.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to deliver clear and effective communication both verbally and non-verbally to deliver updates, briefings, or interface with co-workers, leadership, and customers.
- Must be able to work in an office environment and freely move within this space to utilize office equipment as well as interface with co-workers and customers.
- Must be able to effectively use IT peripherals such as laptop, desktop, printer, fax machine, etc.
- Must be able to deliver presentations as needed.
- Must be able to review, decipher, and understand program manuals; software/hardware manuals; training manuals; etc.
