About the role
This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex telecommunications networks.
Responsibilities
- Design and engineer complex telecommunications networks
- Diagnose and remediate complex network issues
- Manage and test network infrastructure, including DWDM, optical fiber, and wireless
- Implement and manage various WAN protocols
- Ensure network security through ACLs, stateful policies, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline
- Seven (7) years of practical experience in a network engineer role
- Technical knowledge of advanced Ethernet switching, IP routing (OSPF, VRRP, BGP), and fiber optic transmission, termination, and testing practices
- Experience with network management and testing tools
- Experience with Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Certified Design Professional, or equivalent certifications
Preferred entrance qualifications
- Familiarity with next generation technologies such as MetroE, DWDM, FFx, IP/MPLS, and IPv6
- Hands-on experience with Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, and HP switches and routers
Skills
- Advanced Ethernet switching
