About the role
We are seeking an onsite network engineer at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with experienced engineers and customers supporting the Space Systems Command.
Responsibilities
- Analyze network characteristics such as traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput
- Assist more senior network engineers with the installation, removal and modifications to network components
- Configure, deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot multivendor switches, routers, firewalls, and peripheral equipment in operational and test lab environments
- Operate or administer Linux and Unix systems
- Provide occasional after-hours operational support for network issues
- Apply your knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and management tools (Solar Winds, WireShark, iPerf, etc.) to analyze network activity and problems
- Develop and maintain network topologies, diagrams and IP tracking
Requirements
- Active Top Secret or DoE Q clearance with SCI eligibility (must be eligible for SCI indoctrination within first 3 months of start date)
- Bachelor’s degree in science and technology related discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university and 5 years or more relevant experience; a Master’s degree and 3 years or more experience
- Will accept 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
- DoD 8570 baseline certification
- Strong background in Microsoft Office tools and Visio
- Record of success in contributing to the completion of programs and projects; ability to obtain results and make key recommendations
Qualifications
- Good understanding of discipline process, information and data management, configuration control
- Seasoned communicator with demonstrated record of success in leadership, followership, and working with contract representatives and government sponsors
- Ability to provide high-level summary of results and draw conclusions based on interpretation of data
Skills
- Expertise in network engineering and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto firewalls, SolarWinds, and Identity Services Engine (ISE) authentication
- Experience with Linux and Unix systems administration
- Proficiency in enterprise system monitoring and management tools (Solar Winds, WireShark, iPerf, etc.)
- Ability to develop and maintain network topologies, diagrams and IP tracking

Pay
Pay Information: Full-Time Salary Range: $107359 - $182510. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
