To support these plans from a sensor-to-shooter data flow perspective, an Edge Theater Architecture (ETA) is in development to provide the foundation for a warfighting network infrastructure and services for the Joint Force and Allies and Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize operational needs and solutions at a high level and develop technical requirements and recommend solutions to drive improvement to existing design and solutions.
  • Oversee the strategic interface for network system configuration, strategically plan new configurations for network operations using knowledge of the characteristics of the systems being added to the network, and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
  • Research, design, test, and evaluate new technologies and solutions.
  • Maintain an organization-wide view of current and future operations and architecture to recommend solutions that integrate into the overall architectural vision and strategy.
  • Design and implement computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks including Software Defined Networks (SDN), Application Analysis, and Quality of Service.

  • Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning.
  • Design network and computer security measures, and research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software.
  • Provide assessments regarding the technical characteristics of the proposals and alternatives considered to optimize network performance and data throughput in support of operational users.
  • Conduct advanced and state-of-the-art assignments such as network design optimization, technical experiments, specification of equipment configurations, technology assessment, technology insertion planning, capacity planning, and configuration management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
