About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Network DevOps Engineer to join our team remotely. This role is pivotal in automating and optimizing network operations through advanced scripting, infrastructure-as-code, and integration with modern network APIs. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of deep networking knowledge and strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python development. You will be responsible for designing and implementing automation solutions that improve network configuration management, change control, observability, and compliance across multi-vendor enterprise environments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and operations personnel is essential to translate complex requirements into scalable, reliable automation workflows. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong engineering discipline, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of deploying automation in production environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in network automation and DevOps practices
- Proficiency in Python, including object-oriented programming, testing, and packaging
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals such as routing, switching, BGP, and network protocols
- Hands-on experience with network automation tools like Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, or Scrapli
- Experience working with modern network APIs including NETCONF, RESTCONF, and gNMI
- Strong knowledge of Ansible, Jinja2 templating, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
- Familiarity with source-of-truth platforms like NetBox or Nautobot
- Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Design and develop network automation solutions utilizing Python and relevant libraries like Netmiko, Nornir, NAPALM, and Scrapli
- Create automation pipelines for network configuration, deployment, validation, and rollback across multi-vendor environments
- Develop integrations with network APIs such as NETCONF, RESTCONF, and gNMI to facilitate automated management
- Implement and maintain source-of-truth platforms like NetBox or Nautobot to ensure data consistency and automation accuracy
- Build infrastructure-as-code for network configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Jinja2
- Develop network testing and validation workflows employing pyATS, Genie, Batfish, and Suzieq
- Establish CI/CD pipelines to automate network changes, including pre-deployment validation and rollback procedures
- Build observability and telemetry pipelines leveraging gNMI, streaming telemetry, and analytics platforms to monitor network health
- Implement intent-based networking and self-healing workflows to maintain network desired states automatically
- Automate compliance, audit, and policy verification workflows to ensure network security and adherence to organizational standards
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to identify manual workflows suitable for automation and improve operational efficiency
- Develop reusable libraries, frameworks, and abstractions to standardize automation efforts across teams
- Mentor junior engineers in Python development, automation best practices, and network engineering principles
- Stay updated with industry trends, vendor API updates, and emerging network automation tools to continuously improve automation strategies
