About the role
The Core Networking team is looking for a Sr. Network Development Engineer to join our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. As a Network Development Engineer, you will be responsible for building, deploying and scaling the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global datacenters.
Responsibilities
- Create network designs, services, and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements.
- Design ahead of customer or technology needs, always predicting and solving for problems that have not yet occurred.
- Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents.
- Work with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps.
- Construct and test your solutions.
- Provide support to the teams that will deploy and operate these designs.
- Create and automate deployment processes that increases quality and velocity.
- Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in computer science or equivalent
- 8+ years of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols as well as network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
- 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP and ISIS in a large enterprise environment.
- 8+ years working with major network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and/or Junos.
- 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, shell.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Masters in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience.
- Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations.
- Expert-level certifications (e.g. CCIE, JNCIE) a plus.
- Expert-level scripting and/or automation skills in a network environment.
- Software development/programming skills are a plus.
