About the role

As part of the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Network Operations, you’ll play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks that support the U.S. Intelligence Community. You’ll work with best-in-class Network Engineers to deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes and drive complex issues to resolution. Using your experience with network and Unix systems engineering, you’ll be able to fully own and transform networking projects relating to deployment, implementation, scaling, and/or optimization. You’ll partner with our broader Infrastructure organization on configurations standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, and also deploy and sustain networking software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support an off-hours operations escalation pager rotation.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems while dealing with customers and operating efficiently under pressure.
  • Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.
  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI with polygraph level; upon start, be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.
  • Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting.
  • Experience in major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
  • Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies.
  • Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl, shell, C or C++.
  • Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution.
