This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position in our Independence, OH office. The role is hybrid and requires collaboration with teams across multiple regions, with some travel required (15% or less).
About the Role
We are seeking a Network Development Analyst with 3-5 years of direct industry experience to join our team. This role will support the planning, optimization, and expansion of our fiber network infrastructure. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has a working understanding of telecom networks, fiber contracts, and market dynamics.
Responsibilities
- IRU and DF Lease Management:
- Analyze and manage Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRU) and Dark Fiber (DF) lease renewals.
- Identify expiring IRU and leases and propose solutions including renewals, fiber builds, and termination of routes.
- Network Planning and Optimization:
- Develop and implement network path optimization strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Plan and evaluate fiber solutions for entry into new markets or regions.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to design and propose scalable and cost-effective network solutions.
- Fiber Pricing and Cost Management:
- Evaluate pricing for fiber services, including Operations & Maintenance (O&M), colocation (colo), and other associated costs.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for network paths and fiber investment opportunities.
- Technical Knowledge and Contract Analysis:
- Read, interpret, and analyze fiber contracts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of telecom networks and industry-specific best practices.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders, external vendors, and clients to align on project goals and timelines.
- Participate in the preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Data Management and Applications:
- Proficiently use common computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and project management tools) for data analysis, reporting, and network modeling.
Requirements
- Experience: 3-5 years of direct experience in the fiber or telecom industry.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Working understanding of fiber pricing structures (e.g., O&M, colocation, etc.).
- Familiarity with telecom networks, including fiber architecture and infrastructure.
- Contract and Negotiation Skills:
- Familiarity with IRU and DF lease renewals.
- Ability to read and understand fiber contracts and assess their implications.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to optimize network paths and propose solutions for market expansion.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Tools & Mapping Software: Experience with GIS platforms, Google Earth, or telecom-specific tools for mapping and network planning.
- Project Management Experience: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
