About the role

AWS is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. As a Network Deploy Technician, you will work in a fast paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
  • Troubleshooting networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
  • Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment
  • Participating in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
  • Traveling within and outside of regional work area is required. You will be responsible for having a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to travel within the regional work area, as company transportation will not be provided.
  • Tracking network rack intake and delivery; working with various onsite teams to request for rack space, power, and cooling for network racks; partnering with network engineers to ensure all configurations are ready
  • Working on link and device troubleshooting within a certain Service-Level Agreement
  • Console builds and room builds, including work with ID-Scaling peers to build higher-level networking devices

Physical requirements

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
  • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
  • Working in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation

Basic qualifications

  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Data center experience
  • Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+)
  • Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters
  • Knowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF)
