Network Deployment Engineer I, Amazon Dedicated Cloud
About the role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of our Infrastructure Operations team. As dedicated cloud regions continue to expand and grow, Infrastructure Operations is seeking builders to scale network systems, allowing us to stay ahead of customer demand. In this dynamic environment, you will drive the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and assist in developing innovative ways to automate and scale our network.
The role involves scaling support for multiple data center locations and assisting with capacity management. You will collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers. The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, detail-oriented, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, with significant experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-class networks.
This position requires a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Responsibilities
- Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
- Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
- Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance.
- Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows, including migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware (possibly outside business hours).
- Complete customer requests via the Remedy trouble ticketing system.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and inter-connectivity issues, including network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
- Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing systems and workflows.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Travel within the geographical work area (up to 40% outside the traditional work area, possibly including international travel).
- Work on small project scopes with ambiguous details.
A day in the life
A typical day includes attending meetings, executing change management activities in the data center, deploying hardware, connecting cabling, troubleshooting links, updating tickets, collaborating with peers across AWS to innovate, and finding new ways to improve processes for our customers.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovation. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Collaboration across AWS ensures the highest standards for safety, security, and seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience with network cabling, fiber optics, and test equipment (including VFL, power meter, and OTDR).
- Experience with networking fundamentals.
- US government security clearance of top secret or above, or 3+ years of security, compliance, and risk management experience.
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
- General comprehension of data center infrastructure components and sub-components.
- 3+ years of mid-level and/or enterprise experience as a technician or engineer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other routing and switching technologies.
- 2+ years of experience with network cabling, fiber optics, and test equipment (including VFL, power meter, and OTDR).
- CCNA or equivalent-level networking certification.
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery.
Pay
Base salary range: $96,000.00 - $166,300.00 USD annually (USA, VA, Culpeper). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
