Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Architect to support a company focused on delivering enterprise network modernization and mission-critical communications capabilities across complex Department of Defense and national security environments. This position is completely on-site in Honolulu, HI.
About the role
The Network Architect will serve as the senior-most network engineering authority, leading architecture, modernization, integration, and operational support efforts across geographically dispersed classified and unclassified environments. Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and sustainment of enterprise network architectures supporting DoD missions across Hawaii, Alaska, Japan/Okinawa, and CONUS locations.
- Serve as the highest-level engineering escalation point for Tier 3/Tier 4 network incidents involving routing, switching, transport, security boundaries, performance, and failover operations.
- Develop and maintain network engineering baselines, implementation plans, routing/IP schemes, configurations, cutover strategies, testing procedures, and as-built documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior engineers while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements, RMF standards, Zero Trust principles, STIGs, and configuration management processes.
- Brief senior government leaders, General Officers, and executive stakeholders on technical risks, architecture decisions, operational readiness, and modernization initiatives.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive network engineering experience, including at least 7 years serving as a senior architect, chief engineer, technical lead, or equivalent authority within complex DoD or national security environments.
- Active Cisco CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or CCIE Security certification. (preferred)
- Expert experience with enterprise routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, multicast, VRF/VLAN segmentation, QoS, firewalls, SDN, WAN technologies, encryption, network monitoring, and high-availability architectures.
- Demonstrated experience designing and supporting large-scale DoD classified and unclassified networks including NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, MPE/CENTRIX, CSfC, Type 1 encryption, and cross-domain solutions.
- Strong leadership, communication, risk management, troubleshooting, and stakeholder engagement skills with experience briefing senior executives and General Officers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance eligibility required prior to start date.
Pay
Salary Range: $180,000-$210,000 depending on experience
