Network Architect
About the role
The Network Architect partners closely with IT leadership to shape long-term infrastructure strategies and technology roadmaps. This includes providing expert guidance in the architecture, design, deployment, and lifecycle management of complex enterprise network systems. The role leads high-impact initiatives such as building, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting advanced network solutions across the health system, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
The Network Architect creates detailed network blueprints, selects appropriate hardware and software, and ensures seamless integration with existing systems. The role evaluates, recommends, and champions emerging technologies to strengthen capabilities and supports strategic objectives across health system environments.
The Network Architect ensures the Network Engineering team maintains accurate, comprehensive documentation for existing infrastructure and newly introduced systems and services. They develop and report on network performance compared to benchmarks, deliver technical oversight for all Network Engineering operations, and provide mentorship to ensure consistent execution of architectural standards and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize enterprise network systems for high performance, security, and scalability.
- Create detailed network blueprints and select appropriate hardware and software.
- Ensure seamless integration of new systems with existing infrastructure.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to support strategic objectives.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive documentation for network infrastructure and services.
- Develop and report on network performance metrics compared to benchmarks.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship for the Network Engineering team.
- Champion architectural standards, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Seven years of experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise network systems.
- Seven years of experience managing Cisco routers, switches, and Cisco Collaboration/VoIP systems.
- Six years of experience managing Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls, as well as wireless networks.
Skills
- Packet capture analysis and troubleshooting with Wireshark or similar products.
Qualifications
- Required: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
- Preferred: ASE (Architecture Systems Engineer), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
