Network Architect

We’re seeking a seasoned Network Architect to design and evolve secure, high-performance networks that enable the Department of Defense (DoD) to achieve its missions. You’ll combine deep technical expertise with strategic planning to build infrastructure that adapts to emerging threats and operational needs.

About the role

As a Network Engineer on our team, you’ll leverage your experience in network design, architecture, and system interoperability to support national defense and respond to evolving adversaries. You’ll develop enterprise-wide infrastructure designs, troubleshoot complex network issues, analyze existing systems, and enhance security, reliability, and availability for critical network systems. Your work will guide our team in deploying new capabilities and technologies for the DoD.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support network and security architectures within DoD hybrid environments, including implementing Zero Trust principles
• Implement and configure network segmentation or micro-segmentation solutions, including Software-Defined Networking (SDN), SD-WAN, container networking, or virtualization platforms
• Document complex network and security architectures, procedures, and troubleshooting workflows, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) implementations, BGP policy behavior, NGFW IDS/IPS configurations, and NAT/SNAT translation flows
• Apply expertise in routing and switching, network design, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocols, and virtual routing and forwarding
• Optimize client operations and modernization using knowledge of enterprise-level network protocols, equipment, emerging technology, and configurations
• Serve as a trusted advisor on critical projects using experience with software and hardware firewalls, Cisco hardware, Palo Alto firewalls, Juniper hardware, and optical infrastructure networking
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues
• Engage and collaborate with senior leadership

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and supporting network and security architectures within DoD hybrid environments
• 2+ years of experience implementing and configuring network segmentation or micro-segmentation solutions (e.g., SDN, SD-WAN, container networking, or virtualization platforms)
• 2+ years of experience documenting complex network and security architectures, procedures, and troubleshooting workflows, including ZTNA implementations
• 2+ years of experience with security, routing, and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, VPLS, STP, or L3VPNs)
• Ability to effectively collaborate with senior leadership
• Secret clearance
• HS diploma or GED

Qualifications

• Experience supporting and operating DoD networks
• Experience developing enterprise-level architectures
• Experience deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting multi-vendor network and security platforms (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, or Versa)
• Experience applying STIGs and performing system security hardening
• Experience with commercial and DoD cloud networks
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• CCNP or JNCIP Certification

Pay

Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

This role may be remote, hybrid, or onsite:

• Remote: Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility
• Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential visits to customer sites as needed
• Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, with direct collaboration required

Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
