About the Role

As a NETA founding company with roots dating back to 1967, Vertiv’s Electrical Reliability Services (ERS) and High Voltage Maintenance (HVM) divisions are where elite specialists solve complex problems for the world’s most critical infrastructure, including hyperscale data centers, healthcare systems, and utility networks powering the AI revolution. This role is for a Field Engineer specializing in electrical testing at the NETA Level III or IV certification level.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV
  • Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
  • Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
  • Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
  • Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
  • Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
  • Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
  • Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements

Requirements

  • Current and in-good-standing NETA Level III or Level IV Certification (required)
  • 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments
  • Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards
  • Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalent
  • Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%)

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • NETA Level IV Certification
  • NICET Certification
  • Experience with SF6 breaker maintenance
  • Power systems engineering or related degree
  • Prior leadership/supervisory experience on testing projects
  • Experience in data center, utility, or industrial critical power environments

Pay

  • Base Compensation: Up to $110/hour based on certification level and experience
  • Overtime & Double-Time: Aggressive OT policies; top performers exceed $200K total annually
  • Signing Bonus: Up to $15,000 based on certification level
  • Anticipated Salary Range (CA, Cleveland-OH, CO, CT, NYC, MA, ME, MD, NJ, HI, IL, MN, VA, VT, Washington D.C): $158,852 to $230,000 per year
  • Anticipated Salary Range (Washington State): $174,709 to $230,000 per year

Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, stock, profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and sales incentives based on individual performance and role details.
