Nephrology - Physician

Position Summary

CHOC Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Pediatric Nephrologist to join a close-knit 5-physician division. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide patient- and family-centered care to a rapidly expanding population with a broad spectrum of renal diseases, including a substantial chronic kidney disease and chronic nephropathy cohort.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient consultation services for medical/surgical units, PICU, NICU, CVICU, and oncology teams
• Attend acute inpatient dialysis
• Participate in outpatient clinics, including multidisciplinary nephrology clinics and outreach clinics in Newport Beach, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Corona, and Whittier
• Contribute to the development of our new pediatric chronic dialysis unit, which is the only pediatric dialysis unit in Orange County
• Collaborate with local transplant centers for pre-transplant coordination and continuity
• Engage in CME activities: pathology/nephrology conference, radiology/urology/nephrology conference, fetal center conferences, grand rounds, resident noon conference, and community physician presentations
• Teach and mentor medical students and pediatric residents
• Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities, with opportunity for academic appointment at UC Irvine
• Collaborate with Rady Children’s San Diego colleagues across the unified RCH enterprise

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
• Completion of an accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship
• Valid California medical license (or eligibility to obtain one)
• Strong clinical acumen
