Nephrologist - Kidney Transplant Medical Director

Job Summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West is seeking a Transplant Nephrologist to join their team. The facility provides adult specialty care to the more than two million residents of Middle Tennessee, Southwestern Kentucky, and Northern Alabama.

About the Role

Join an established team of 4 physicians and 2 APPs. Call structure is every 4th week, with a practice setting in both hospital inpatient and outpatient environments. Access to support staff includes RN coordinators, social workers, pharmacists, and nutritionists. The employed position is within a nonprofit health system, eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Nephrology and completion of an AST Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Training Accreditation Program (TNFTAP) or ACGME accredited transplant nephrology fellowship. Required years of experience in transplant nephrology are 5 years minimum, with previous medical directorship or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute inpatient and outpatient populations utilizing advanced diagnostic acumen and evidence-based medicine.
• Serve as the admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients requiring hospitalization, ensuring seamless transitions from admission to discharge.

Requirements

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

Qualifications
