Nepali Interpreter, Per Diem

About the role

Job Description Regions seeks an interpreter fluent in Nepali to assist patients in their hospital and clinic settings. This position is part-time, Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling as needed.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily cross-cultural communication between patients, family members, and medical providers and staff.
• Serve as a cultural and language resource person.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 40 hours of interpreter training required or within 6 months of hire for languages of lesser diffusion.
• Annual completion of department-required continuing education.
• Active Status on the Minnesota Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster.

Preferred Qualifications

• 40 hours of interpreter training completed prior to hire preferred.
• Some general college preferred, especially programs focusing on interpreting and translation skills.
• Two years interpreting experience, including one year medical interpreting experience preferred.
