Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Per Diem (NURSE PRACT PD)
About the role
To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure.
Responsibilities
- Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy)
- Initiate appropriate consultations and referrals
- Accurately evaluate and care for patients
- Follow up with evaluations and care planning
- Facilitate multi-disciplinary care through interactions with patients, housestaff, attendings, and nurses
- Provide patient care in a team-based care environment to a diverse patient population
- Apply knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations
- Participate in patient and staff education
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Demonstrate accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act
Requirements
- At least one (1) year experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 7 days of hire
- Graduation with a master’s degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include license and/or certification if required of the position
- Two (2) or more years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a Level III or IV NICU

$122.27 per hour

Variable, Day/Night, 12-hours
