About the role
Baptist Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Baptist Medical Center South. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing, at least 2 years of related experience, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification from the National Certification Corporation (NNP).
Responsibilities
- Perform complete, detailed, and accurate histories and review patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports.
- Complete physical examinations, make diagnoses, and institute therapy, including drug therapy.
- Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment, arrange hospital admissions and discharges at the direction of the collaborating Physician.
- Provide instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients.
- Participate in hospital rounds when needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license required.
- Active Nurse Practitioner license required.
- BLS required.
- Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be required based upon assigned department.
Qualifications
- Master degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum 2 years’ related experience required.
- CVICU Nurse Practitioners require 2 years of ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) experience.
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
- Strong team leadership skills, strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient computer skills, proven track record of successful performance.
- Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Ability to observe, assesses, and record work, safety and infection control standards.
