NDT Trainee I - (2nd or 3rd Shift based on business need)

About the Role

The employee is responsible for becoming certified in present and future approved methods within the NDT department and maintaining these certifications throughout employment. The role involves performing a variety of inspections according to procedures and governance associated with assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Certify to Level-2 in both Fluorescent Penetrant (FPI) and Digital Radiography (DR) within 2 years of NDT start date (3 certification tests required: Level 2 – FPI, Level-1 & 2 – DR).
• Complete Level-2 recertifications every 5 years.
• Understand and comply with all levels of procedures associated with NDT and assigned tasks/methods.
• Operate all required equipment, perform systems checks, and routine maintenance as needed.
• Read prints/process drawings associated with AA TECH product and develop techniques for future products to improve inspection results or reduce ergonomic concerns.
• Examine hundreds of parts daily for weld and braze flaws, incorrect assemblies, forging and casting defects, and rework evaluations while striving for near-perfect quality.
• Maintain work areas and equipment in an organized, clean, and foreign object damage (FOD)-free manner.
• Perform under pressure, including during internal and external audits (e.g., NADCAP), meeting production requirements without sacrificing inspection quality.
• Work closely with supervision, engineering staff, or other team members to ensure quality inspections and production demands are met.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and understand detailed work instructions, procedures, and drawings.
• Strong computer skills, including creating spreadsheets, Word documents, developing Excel techniques/formulas, data entry, and proficiency in Windows OS.
• Basic math and algebra skills (verification via test).
• General science comprehension.
• Successfully complete an eye test.
• Meet and maintain all requirements within Q09-02-4001 and NAS-410 for present and future NDT certifications.
• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time (up to 3 weeks per year), either individually or with team members.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and provide evidence of citizenship or immigration status.

Schedule

This role is for 2nd or 3rd shift based on business need at the time of certification:

• 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM
• 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM
