About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using Ultrasonic equipment
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order
- Documentation and organization of inspection results
- Interface/communicate with Engineers and/or Managers to describe inspection results
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Level 2 experience in ultrasonics
- Must be able to pass Ultrasonic General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (General Test study materials will be provided if needed)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Ultrasound
- Qualify to certify to level II status per NAS-410 requirements in Ultrasound with a minimum amount of documented experience of 800 hours
- Meet minimum Vision Requirements
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in ASTM E164 Standard Practice for Contact Ultrasonic Testing of Weldments
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in ASTM E2700 Standard Practice for Contact Ultrasonic Testing of Welds Using Phased Arrays
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in ASTM E 2375 Standard Practice for Ultrasonic Testing of Wrought Products
- Experience in analyzing resultant data from metallic and composite structures
- Experience in analyzing Thru-Transmission Ultrasonics of sandwich composite structures
- Experience in pulse echo composites inspection
- Experience in Bond Testing
- Experience in composite repair inspection
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products is required
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and off shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to work off shifts
- Able to lift and transport parts and/or inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Able to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Comfortable working off of platforms, scissor lifts and or aerial boom lifts
- Desired: Advance Phased Array Training, Thermography Training (LI and LII), Carded by a state or a certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray, Ability to certify in one or more of the following methods; Radiography, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, or emergent methods Terahertz and/or Laser Shearograpy per NAS-410.40 hours of Radiation Safety Training, 40 hours of Digital Radiography Training, Training in Computed and Digital Radiography, Carded by a state or a certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray, Knowledge of industry NDT standards, Experience in a production environment, preferably in aerospace, Experience with automated/robotic inspection equipment
- 1+ years of aerospace experience
