NDT Technician - Eddy Current (ET) - Level II - A Shift
About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using Eddy Current equipment
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order
- Documentation and organization of inspection results
- Interface/communicate with Engineers and/or Managers to describe inspection results
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Level 2 experience in the Eddy Current Method
- Must be able to pass Eddy Current General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (General Test study materials will be provided if needed)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Eddy Current
- Qualify to certify to level II status per NAS-410 requirements in Eddy Current with a minimum amount of documented experience of 800 hours
- Meet minimum Vision Requirements: Near Vision: Either 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12” Color Perception: 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with a minimum of 12 panels correctly identified
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in ASTM E426 Standard Practice for Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Seamless and Welded Tubular Products, Titanium, Austenitic Stainless Steel and Similar Alloys
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in SAE-ARP4402 Eddy Current Inspection of Open Fastener Holes in Aluminum Aircraft Structure
- Determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations for inspection activity
- Read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products is required
- Willing to work overtime, weekends and off shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines
- Able to lift and transport parts and/or inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Able to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired
- Eddy Current Array Training and experience
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in ASTM E2884 Standard Guide for Eddy Current Testing of Electrically Conducting Materials Using Conformable Sensor Arrays
- Familiar and understand the requirements defined in NASA PRC-6509 Process Specification for Eddy Current Inspection
- Strong desire for Fluorescent Penetrant and Radiography experience and certification
- Ability to certify in one or more of the following methods; Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle
- Ability to certify in one or more of the following methods; Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, or emergent methods Terahertz and/or Laser Shearograpy per NAS-410
- Training in Computed and/or Digital Radiography
- 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training
- Experience in the operation of NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment
- Carded by a state or a certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray
- Advance Phased Array Training
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Experience in a production environment, preferably in aerospace
- 1+ years of aerospace experience

- Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
