NDT Inspector/Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections using methods such as: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT) (preferred).
  • Conduct welding inspections in accordance with AWS, ASME, API, and customer specifications.
  • Travel to customer locations, fabrication shops, and field sites to perform inspections and quality assurance activities.
  • Safely operate a company-provided vehicle while traveling to assigned job sites.
  • Interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) records.
  • Review fabrication drawings, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and quality documentation.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Identify weld and dimensional errors and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, customer requirements, and quality management systems.
  • Cook with production, engineering, quality personnel, customers, and third-party inspectors.

Required Qualifications

  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (Preferred).
  • Level II certification in one or more NDT methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding inspection and NDT.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 75–90% of the time, including overnight travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ASME Section V, VIII, IX, API 1104, API 650, or AWS D1.1.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience in heavy fabrication, structural steel, pressure vessels, or pipeline construction.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes including GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and SAW.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, specifications, and NDT standards.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inspection reporting software.
  • Able to work independently in both field and shop environments.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage travel schedules and multiple inspection assignments.
