As an NDT Inspector, you will perform approved non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections—including fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, X-Ray, and visual methods—to document the servicing and repair of gas turbine engines, aircraft components, parts, or accessories. Your work will comply with the Repair Station Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturers’ specifications, approved technical data, and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform all designated NDT inspection duties in accordance with StandardAero policies and procedures, providing compliant reports/records (e.g., FAA Form 337).
• Set up and calibrate equipment, prepare components for NDT inspection, and ensure all equipment is fully operational through daily checks.
• Ensure required preliminary, hidden, damage, progressive, and final inspections are completed, with proper documentation executed before product release.
• Conduct NDT and in-process inspections of overhauled or repaired engines, accessories, appliances, and components prior to shipment.
• Plan workload to meet schedule deadlines in coordination with Production and Engineering teams.
• Train and mentor other NDT employees or instruct lower classifications as needed.
• Evaluate published technical data for accuracy and applicability to NDT procedures; develop or revise procedures to ensure reliable, high-quality products.
• Provide technical support for salvage schemes and prevent the release of defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts.
• Complete inspection documents for statistical data compilation as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, working practices, and team efficiency.
• Support warranty reviews and contribute technical expertise to warranty decision-making.
• Create investigation and production reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Aerospace, Quality Control/Inspection, or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience and training from governmental or vocational programs.
• Completion of an on-the-job training program in magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI).
• Previous Level II Certifications (required).
• May be required to pass NDT and inspection eye examinations and have experience with applicable NDT methods.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 or other regulatory specifications.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical manuals, work specifications, service bulletins, and written work instructions.
• Must pass general, specific, and practical examinations in magnetic particle or penetrant inspection (minimum 80% average, with no score below 70%).
• Must be certifiable to NAS 410.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 12–18 months of NDT inspection and evaluation experience with aircraft powerplants for FAA certification, or powerplant certification.
• Thorough working knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations, turbine engine principles, test cell performance, assembly practices, vibration and failure analysis, and general engine overhaul/repair procedures.

Schedule

Many shop positions offer a 4-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, typically Monday through Thursday.
