About the role
The NDI training and apprenticeship program at Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is designed for candidates interested in becoming part of the Mission Assurance organization. This position is located in Palmdale, CA and involves potential overseas travel for a Non-Destructive Test Technician level 1 role.
Responsibilities
- Train for in-field Non-destructive Inspection of aircraft
- Learn the skills for the inspection of composite aerospace components, and other energetic and non-energetic articles
- Follow unique non-destructive inspection techniques, methods, and procedures
- Select and implement the best NDT method to ensure product quality at the lowest cost
- Work with design, project, and quality engineers during the training process
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successfully complete NDI Training Program provided by Northrop Grumman through American Aerospace Technical Academy (AATA)
- Active Government Clearance
- Able to obtain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time
- Valid US Passport or ability to obtain
- Able to travel up to 25%
- Able to pass vision screen and color blindness tests
- Able to pass General, Specific, and Practical exams within a reasonable amount of time
- Able to work any shift, overtime, or non-standard work schedule
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Aircraft Inspection, Knowledge of Nonconforming Material (NCM) control system and governing procedures and documentation, Relevant past experience in the NDT field
Skills
- Ability to lift up to approximately 35 pounds
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Willingness to work any shift, overtime, or non-standard work schedule
